Why a Purple Awning?
People ask that question often. No, there’s not a grand marketing scheme. And no high priced consultant blew into town espousing the virtues of standing apart from the crowd. Simply put, purple was owner Billy Hammock’s favorite color as a child, and a color that he continues to be passionate about in often over-zealous ways.
In his early days as owner of Creative Jewelers, Billy was determined to have a purple awning adorning his shop entrance. But to his dismay, all that was available at the time was blue, and, of course, that untreated fabric eventually faded into a shade that he never bargained for. Committed to seeing his vision through, Billy went on a dogged search for his elusive purple awning – and eventually found it in 1997. It was a good time for the transition. Creative Jewelers had just moved to Court Street in Historic Downtown Florence. His new awning was fade-proof and to his perfect liking. He knew it then … Creative Jewelers was home.
Purple is also the color of the seven-foot Christmas tree that makes its appearance once a year, decked out with purple lights to further enhance the “purpleness” of it all. And to ensure that you can take that purple feeling home with you, CJ associates are often quick to offer pens with purple ink. A little much? Perhaps. But the passion that Billy and his team put into a simple color is indicative of the passion that they have for their craft, their customers and their business! |
